Emergency Preparedness / Search and Rescue
Fast Facts
Emergency Preparedness merit badge is required for Eagle (alternate: Lifesaving) and is offered as a dual merit badge session with Search and Rescue merit badge. In this session, Scouts will learn how to be helpful before, during, and after an emergency. Participants will even be able to conduct a mock search-and-rescue mission. Scouts must have previously earned First Aid merit badge in order to participate (this is the first requirement of Emergency Preparedness merit badge).
Several requirements for each merit badge must be completed before or after attending camp. Visit the Pre-Requisites list above for more information. Scouts may bring the materials necessary for Emergency Preparedness requirement 8b to camp to be checked off by the instructor, or may complete 8b at home.
