Just for Fun - Aquatics

Aquatics sponsors several recreational activities throughout the week for Scouts and adult leaders.

Free Swim (session)
Scouts may enroll in the Free Swim session offered during period 6.  Adults are invited as well.  What could be better to end a hot summer day than a dip in the cool waters of Lake John Sobotta? Free Swim is open to all ages and skill levels.

Free Swim and Free Boating (twilight activity)
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 7:00-8:15pm
Scouts and leaders of all ages and skill levels are invited to go swimming, canoeing, and rowing on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings after supper.  The waterfront opens at 7:00pm and usually closes around 8:15pm, depending on daylight, weather, and other factors.

Mile Swim, BSA (session)
In order to earn the Mile Swim, BSA award at Camp Raven Knob, interested Scouts and adult leaders must enroll in this session, offered during period 3 or period 6. Only enrolled participants who attend all required training swims will be allowed to swim the open-water mile on Thursday.

For Leaders Only:

Mile Row
Leaders may earn part of their Scoutmaster Merit Badge by volunteering to help supervise the open-water mile swim on Thursday. Two adults in a rowboat are required to follow each swimmer (one to row and one to watch the swimmer).

Lookout Duty
Leaders may earn part of their Scoutmaster Merit Badge by volunteering to serve as a lookout in our Raven's Nest lookout tower. No sign-up required, just show up and enjoy the spectacular views of aquatic activities on Lake John Sobotta!
