Reservation Policy

With the growth in the Scouts coming to summer camp at Raven Knob, the Program Committee decided in 1998 we would not be able to guarantee a specific campsite reserved by a unit. While in most cases units will stay in the campsite they reserved, it may be necessary to move a unit to a different site or to have more than one unit share a site. This may happen if a unit is too large or too small for a particular site. Capacities of the campsites are published in the Leader's Guide every year as well as listed on this site..

Grandfather Rule

There are some units that have been coming to Raven Knob continuously for many years and stay in the same campsite during the same week. In many cases these units helped to build the campsites they stay in. In an effort to allow these units to guarantee their site, we have implemented a grandfather rule.

A unit may maintain a guarantee on a campsite reservation provided:

  • They continue to attend summer camp at Raven Knob each consecutive year.
  • No changes are made to the campsite or week for that reservation.
  • Their campsite deposit is rolled over at check-in while attending camp.

For example, a unit staying in Apache during the second week of camp, may guarantee that campsite as long as they continue to stay in Apache during the second week each consecutive year. If the unit does not attend camp one year, or the reservation changes to a different week or different campsite, the unit is no longer covered by the grandfather rule.

Even when a site is not guaranteed, we will still do all that we can to accomodate the requests of each unit.
