Raven Knob Trails Guide

The guidebook is devoted to detailed explanations - complete with map - or each of the major trails at Raven Knob. The maps in the Raven Knob Trails guidebook are taken from the USGS Bottom (N.C.) Quadrangle topographic map.

Whether you want a leisurely day hike or a challending backpacking trip, there is a Raven Knob Trail that will fit the bill.

Yellow Trail (5.25 miles)

This circular trail follows much of the camp's northern boundary, and passes the Warrior Mountain.
Sites: Wilderness Cabin, Pocahontas Hollow, Warrior Mountain, Hunter's Cabins

White Trail (4.75 miles)

This circuit trail follows much of the camp's southern boundary, and passes the Knob, as well as Racoon Mountain.
Sites: The Knob, Racoon Mountain, Crouse's chimney

Blue Trail (1.9 miles)

This spur trail connects the main road through camp to its northern boundary. The trail goins through the middle of camp, and connects with the Yellow Trail at both ends. A majority of the trail follows old logging roads, many of which have been widened or improved in recent years.

Red Trail (1.0 miles)

This spur trail connects the main road through camp to the main gate. The trail follows an old logging road and connects with the Yellow Trail at both ends.

Orange Trail (1.0 miles)

Also known as Cold Creek Road, this spur trail leads from Valley Road at its Northern end, and ends at the base of Racoon Mountain.
Sites: The old "gold mine", old horse stables

Green Trail (1.25 miles)

This spur trail runs along the northwestern camp boundary and connects with the Yellow Trail at both ends. It provides an alternate route from Warrior Mountain t the Wilderness cabin, by following the ridge line to the western camp boundary.

Boundary Trail (8.0 miles)

This trail follows the camp's property line - more or less. There are parts of the southwestern boundary (generally inaccessible areas behind Racoon Mountain) that the trail doesnt follow.

Lake Trail (1.25 miles)

This trail follows the shoreline of Lake Sabotta. If you've hiked to the Knob, you're already hiked part of it.
